Today we rehearsed both productions back-to-back. I know we put in work because I'm emotionally drained, which is a good thing. Great acting is about emotional intelligence. One more week and it's SHOWTIME!

I was so glad to be with my Dove family again. Rehearsal was very productive and fun. We began with prayer and everyone chimed in to say something. The atmosphere was pleasant...there is nothing like having prayer and the presence of the Lord before you begin. After that we were flowing. www.dovetheater.com
"I'm not going to do two plays at one time" is what I told myself in the beginning of the year, but I went against it. Why? Because I knew I could do it! However, it is challenging and demanding that mentally I have concerns. (Smiling) I'm just kidding. I take one day at a time to stay focus not to intermingle the characters and the script. The first couple of days I focus on "Have You Seen Her", then I take a day off, and pick up and study the script for "The Faces of Life". This routine works well for me and I'm doing pretty good.
The Story of Esther Musical - Todays rehearsal was fun and also a confirmation on the things I have learned through life experiences. As we practiced the songs for the scenes, some of the actors are not singers, but Kira stretched us beyond our limitations.
During the process, we had to learn the notes, and for some of us it didn't come easy. When things don't come easy, we have a tendency to say "I can't do this." But Kira, including the actors who could sing was very encouraging. There was no idle chatter. We made adjustments and kept practicing until we got it right. Now everybody is singing! Confirmation: Never limit yourself and say "I can't" until you try. Today was a long day. I just finished my audition for the Independent Film "North Star". It was so many people; it was an opportunity to socialize and network. Throughout the process, I met a couple of actors who were very helpful. :-)
As I took center stage, I knew God was with me. In the middle of my monologue Mr. Clifton Powell came over to me and gave me some notes. He told me to push back, so I knew I was giving my all. One of the things I've learned in acting (mainly theater) is to be BIG; it is better for the director to tell you to scale down than for them to try and pull what they want out of you. I internalized his notes and delivered the monologue differently. I must have taken his directions well because when I finished he applauded me and said "Very talented". Thank you Lord!! The preparation for my piece was invigorating as well as exhausting.
Wine in the Wilderness By Alice Childress (1969) Edited and Adapted by Veronica Redd into A Duo-logue Based on the character “Tommy”, a female dress factory worker I had one week to memorize my lines and to actually think about what I was saying. Everything was going well until I began to over analyze the piece and started to stress out. I mean I am paying tribute Alice Childress' "Wine in the Wilderness" and I wanted to embody the character - to act like the women back in 1969 (look, speak, dance, etc.,). As I shared my concerns with "MzV", she assured me of a fine performance. I realized that there's no reason to stress over my worries. YESTERDAY WAS OUR "SEAMLESS" DEBUT!!! It was a wonderful event! On Friday, May 18, 2012, Blessed Occasions, Inc. in partnership with the Haitian Professionals of Philadelphia, and the Coalition of Young Christians of Pennsylvania presented their 2nd Annual Charity Fashion Show & Beauty Expo titled “Hair 4 Haiti Extravaganza 2012” at Gallerie Isada in Port Richmond, Philadelphia. It was such a pleasure to be a part of something that will benefit others. This event focused on raising funds as well as awareness in regards to the situation in Haiti and the people there who are still without. This event helped everyone involved realize the importance of living a life in accordance with God's will and not taking for granted the gifts that He has given us and using them to have an impact in the lives of the People of Haiti who still do not even have access to clean water. I had a wonderful experience...this was my first fashion show and I enjoyed the opportunity to participate. Again, it was a pleasure and I am glad that I had celebrated Haitian Flag Day and know that this cause supported the Haitian survivors!
Today was the fitting and rehearsal for the upcoming Fashion Extravaganza. As I arrived, I ran into Ana and Diana, who I was happy to see. We all proceeded in and I met one of the designers name Orlando. We went to the waiting area and I saw some of the former participants from previous rehearsals. I greeted them and we converse until it was time for us to get our measurements. Afterwards, it was time for us to put our heels on to walk. Everyone walked twice, and I was pleased to be chosen by Orlando to wear two pieces from his clothing line. I was also informed that I will wear another designer's piece. So I am looking forward to our call time on May 18 to meet the other designer and to see the clothing we will wear. In the meantime, I will purchase the items needed to be ready. I am so thrilled to be a part of Haiti's celebration and to support the survivors from the January 2010 earthquake.
Tickets are on sale for $25 (see home page). I hope to see you there to celebrate and to be a blessing to others that are in need. Booked! Heery Casting Callback for USA Network Political Animals with Sigourney Weaver. Shoot next week!
Today, was my first day back at Destiny Productions and I was happy to see my Destiny family all together in one place. We are so fortunate to have Ms. Ruth. She believes in us so much that she is constantly fighting and working hard to get us where we want to be in our professional entertainment careers. I am so glad to be back and looking forward to contribute whatever I can for the 2012 season.
I'm on set shooting an industrial commercial. Thrilled! The Producer, Director, and Actors are great to work with...I was so tense. When I messed up my line, I took a second and redid it. Once the take was completed, the Director said " Good, you even edit yourself". Everyone laughed. They told me to breathe and relax, now I'm flowing. I just want to make sure I give them what they want.
Today is the "Miss Honey Fashion Show" tonight 7 PM at the Artworks Studio in Trenton, NJ. Tickets on sale at 313 Market Street in Trenton NJ.
Thanking God that the play went well! We had a good time! I really enjoyed working with this cast. They were professional and an amazing group of people. Everyone was in unity to make this show a success. In addition to acting, we was working as the crew too and their wasn't no complaining. It needed to be done and WE DID IT! I can't wait to work with them again!
Now, I am looking forward to the Cast Party! I just enjoyed the night with my mother on her birthday. We went and saw Joe Turner's Come and Gone at Play and Players Theater. The talent was AWESOME! I remember when I first started acting, my professor told me that there are no small parts and I did't believe it. Tonight, these actors made me believe it especially Erin Stewart who played Martha Pentecost at the end along side of Kash Goins who played Herald Loomis; that scene moved me. I enjoyed watching them all. The City Paper was absolutely right; its a powerful production. GREAT JOB!
I just got in from Purposed Child Unlimited meeting for the stage play "What My Momma Doesn't Know". The agenda was to meet the cast as we played "Tell three truths and a lie", and we had to guess the lie; we were assigned our roles and was given their description; and we did other silly activities. I was disappointed that we didn't read the script because I was ready to get into it, but the description of our characters were heavy. This play is rated PG13 and it is based on true events, and we the cast are the voices. With that said, we must invite the teens, parents, and educators. My hope is that this play will help somebody whether its an outlet, or change the way people think for the better, etc.,
