As I took center stage, I knew God was with me. In the middle of my monologue Mr. Clifton Powell came over to me and gave me some notes. He told me to push back, so I knew I was giving my all. One of the things I've learned in acting (mainly theater) is to be BIG; it is better for the director to tell you to scale down than for them to try and pull what they want out of you. I internalized his notes and delivered the monologue differently. I must have taken his directions well because when I finished he applauded me and said "Very talented". Thank you Lord!!
Today was a long day. I just finished my audition for the Independent Film "North Star". It was so many people; it was an opportunity to socialize and network. Throughout the process, I met a couple of actors who were very helpful. :-)

The preparation for my piece was invigorating as well as exhausting.
Wine in the Wilderness By Alice Childress (1969) Edited and Adapted by Veronica Redd into A Duo-logue Based on the character “Tommy”, a female dress factory worker I had one week to memorize my lines and to actually think about what I was saying. Everything was going well until I began to over analyze the piece and started to stress out. I mean I am paying tribute Alice Childress' "Wine in the Wilderness" and I wanted to embody the character - to act like the women back in 1969 (look, speak, dance, etc.,). As I shared my concerns with "MzV", she assured me of a fine performance. I realized that there's no reason to stress over my worries. YESTERDAY WAS OUR "SEAMLESS" DEBUT!!! It was a wonderful event! |
