homeless not hopeless for change 4th annual finale
I'm honored to be apart of a life changing event for me and for others that will attend. Giving back is part of God's requirements. One of my favorite scriptures is Phillipians 2:4 " Let each of you look out not only for his own interests, but also for the interests of others." I know that God has predestined who will be there at that appointed time and I want to be ready to serve.
The 4th Annual Homeless Not Hopeless Poets For Change Finale took place on June 14 HONORING "Philly's Fallen Heroes" who made a DIFFERENCE In OUR City!!! I'm grateful for my church family Word of Life. I thank everyone who came out on a Friday night and donated food for the kick-off to our community service projects for the Homeless Not Hopeless Poets For Change! They made 200 lunches to be given out to those in need in Center City! They were so excited to serve our community and show the love of Christ! This is what it's all about! Saturday morning KT Terry and her troops had a great time giving out the bags of lunches to the homeless in Love Park in Center City Philadelphia. KT Terry said, "Seeing the faces of those in need were so grateful. We wish we had more to give."
Later that day Coucilman Kenyatta Johnson opened it up and signed each Certificate of Appreciation to all those who participated. There are so many testimonials given from feeding the homeless, and how each honoree paved the way for us today. Dynamic speakers were in the building such as Attorney Michael Coard, Judge Sierra Thomas Street, Howard Sullivan (the son of Dr. Leon Sullivan), and Brother Chenoa Bah. There was no dull moment. Entertainment included Spoken Word, Kimmika Williams-Witherspoon, KT Terry The Poetic Queen, and Youth Poet Sojourney Ahebee; Singers, Rahnda Rize, Salem Voices of Praise, Kira Shcherbakova who sang an original song that God gave to her that touched the hearts of many; National Ms. 2013 Deandra Witt was there, and so many other talents. Monetary donations were accepted and giving to The Covenant House For Transient Teens. Last but not least I was humbled to minister with my dear Sister Toni as we praised dance to up lift the name of the Lord. LET LOVE BE THE FOUNDATION OF OUR CONVERSATIONS AND ALL WE DO.

HOPE4PHILLY
The Joy in Giving: The Hope4Philly.org event was awesome! It was such a privilege to be apart of a network of organizations, churches, and community services across the greater Philadelphia area focusing on bringing hope and healing to the at-risk families and communities in our region.
As I distributed the groceries the faces of the people lit up like a child at Christmas time! They couldn't believe they were receiving so many bags of food along with other items for their homes.
Thanks to Pastor John Holt of Calvary Assembly of God for allowing The Dove Theater to volunteer and present scenes from the musical production "The Story of Esther". We had a great time!

HAIR 4 HAITI 2012 CHARITY FASHION SHOW EXTRAVAGANZA
Celebrating History & Culture with Hair, Fashion & Entertainment
On Friday, May 18, 2012, Blessed Occasions, Inc. in partnership with the Haitian Professionals of Philadelphia, and the Coalition of Young Christians of Pennsylvania will present their 2nd Annual Charity Fashion Show & Beauty Expo titled “Hair 4 Haiti Extravaganza 2012” at Gallerie Isada in Port Richmond, Philadelphia.
Hair 4 Haiti Extravaganza 2012” is a community based cultural event that will bring the city’s best fashion designers, make-up artists, hairstylists, top entertainers, and the Haitian community together to fundraise and celebrate Haiti’s Flag Day. This event focuses on raising funds as well as awareness in regards to the situation in Haiti and the people there who are still without. This event helps everyone involved realize the importance of living a life in accordance with God's will and not taking for granted the gifts that He has given us and using them to have an impact in the lives of the People of Haiti who still do not even have access to clean water.
Also, this event has received huge support from community partners, sponsors, corporate and community leaders as it celebrates Haiti’s most popular holiday. Haitian Flag Day remains a symbol of unity and triumph for the first black republic to renounce slavery, in which it flew its first flag on May 18, 1803 in liberation of the people of Haiti. As Haiti continues to struggle for stability after the destructive earthquake on January 12th, 2010, the Philadelphia Haitian community has come together to raise awareness and funds for reconstruction efforts. Philadelphia’s large Haitian population recognizes the importance for this night of reverence as did Mayor Michael Nutter did as he proclaimed May 18th 2011, Haitian Flag Day in Philadelphia. This year’s extravaganza at Gallerie Isada (Collins, Philadelphia PA) starts at 8PM but memory will last forever.
IT WAS A GREAT SUCCESS!!!

TAMARA WOODS (MODEL) believes that God has blessed her with a gift to share with the world. She goes on to say, “When I heard of delays in aid distribution over a year after the earthquake occurred in Haiti, it hurt my heart. I thought to myself, 'what can I do?' It was then that I met Ms. Rose and grew to know her as we were cast mates of the stage play "The Other Side of Love." Ms. Rose told me about the Hair 4 Haiti event and I felt this was my opportunity to be a part of a great cause. I know the economy has had an impact on everyone, but if this fashion show allows me to donate time, talent, and resources for the Haitian survivors, then I am going to walk hard so they can get what they need. In this life, I hope to reach out to help others, to enlighten and enrich the life of someone. I feel that the Hair 4 Haiti Event will allow me to do just that...this is one of the reasons why we are here".
A Night At The Wire Silent Fundraiser
A Night At The Wire
Parks & People Foundation and HBO's critically acclaimed show The Wire threw the best "A Night at The Wire" final celebration!
When we arrived we had the chance to tour the soundstages for the fifth season shooting. We managed to see the Western, City Hall and the Mayor's Office, and the new set for the Baltimore Sun news room. The props team showed us fake guns, drugs, and bodies, and in wardrobe, we looked at clothes for Marlo, Bunk, and Brother Mouzone. After the tour, we mixed and mingled with the actors, artists, and crew members from the show while enjoying the silent auction. All of the proceeds from the evening went to support the Ella Thompson Fund, a Fund of the Parks & People Foundation which supports youth programs in Balitmore City.
