During the time of my bereavement of my Dad and brother I felt like I didn't know where to begin with acting again. As I read and meditated on God's word and prayed about everything, I received and email offering me a role for the stage play "NorthPhillyBillies". The Playwright explained to me that this role has less lines, but I was okay with this because it was a start. So, I kindly accepted it. Plus I felt I wasn't ready to take on a major role with my heart being so tender. BUT GOD sees and knows everything. His word says, "For My thoughts are not your thoughts, Nor are your ways My ways," says the Lord. For as the heavens are higher than the earth, So are My ways higher than your ways, And My thoughts than your thoughts." Isaiah 55:8,9 God's gracious thoughts exceed all human imagination. No one can fathom the depths of His wisdom. You see, I thought I wasn't ready, but my God is telling me, "Daughter, YOU ARE READY AND I AM WITH THEE." With this being said, I gratefully accept the offer for the Lead role in "NorthPhillyBillies" Thank you Lord! You are so AWESOME! Over the weekend I had the opportunity to audition for Ms. Charron Monaye's "Why Can't We Be Friends". There was so much happening on that day, but I was determined to audition for her. When I arrived we greeted each other and she introduced me to Ms. Trina, and we greeted. I asked her a question as she looked over my resume and we conversed for a little bit then I presented my monologue. Afterwards, she asked me a question and said some things that resonated on my heart when I left. All I can do is thank God. I am so glad I pressed my way there and I hope that we will work together.
After praying and taking one step forward an opportunity presented itself for me to be a part of the stage play North Philly Billies. My first rehearsal was this evening and it felt so good to be back in my element. This is where I suppose to be. I read my part and for other roles too! I had fun! The cast members who were there welcomed me with open arms. We even took photos for the brochure. I hope it leads to a long working relationship. Good day family and friends! I'm trying to get back into the swing of things...taking one step forward praying and allowing God to lead the way.
I'm truly taking one day at a time. I'm missing my love ones who passed on. God is good and forever faithful! God is comforting me and His word is sustaining me. I thank the Lord for my family and friends for their encouraging words has ministered unto me. I know we are passing through and my desire is to fulfill God's purpose His Will for my life and be a blessing. I learned a lot in my life by watching. It's funny to me now how when I was little, I use to observe people - the way they behave, and act physically...no wonder I was interested in Psychology. My family use to call me a "Lil Old Lady", but little did I know this was prepping me for acting. To this day I do the same thing in addition to watching movies, watching actors, and seeing what their process is. I LOVE ACTING!
Wishing everyone a Glorious Monday! Last nights open house for Destiny Productions Theater Ensemble was packed. It was good to see the family. My greatest reward was greeting and speaking with potential members about our organization. Today was a busy day. I've prepared for two auditions and I felt good about one vs. the other. However, I will not beat myself up over the one I think didn't go so well. I will just think of things I could've done differently for a more positive outcome. (See the below helpful article)
"Negative self-talk is harmful, and doesn’t get erased by career success, so stop doing it now! You are chipping away at your spirit." ~ Bonnie Katz I woke up this morning with a burst of energy as I geared up for another audition after going to one yesterday. I'm feeling good!
The New Year was starting off sort of slow. I guess because I wasn't really looking to get into anything until after the weather changes; and too I just finished two productions at the same time at the Walnut Street Theatre. Well, low and behold I have several auditions lined up that I'm preparing for. LET'S GET TO IT!
Last night after the show "Have You Seen Her", I got the chance to speak to some of the audience members. I like to get feedback from the shows I'm in to hear what they have received from it or was there a portion they could relate to. This one particular person identified with one of the emotional scenes and I could see the hurt in their eyes, and as a vessel of God, I encouraged them that God can see you through it. My prayer for them is that God can heal any scar and take the pain away.
Lord knows my heart desires; and one is to be a blessing to others. This past week I really enjoyed rehearsal. We have been going over both plays at the same time. I'm enjoying it because I like flipping in and out of both characters.
